Serene lagoons surrounded by lush tropical landscaping. Dramatic, surreal, black lava cliffs where ocean meets land. Soft, sandy beaches and a protected bay teeming with fish in brilliant colors. In this place once bustling as a Hawaiian fishing village visitors sense the spirit of the land, the healing power of the sun, ocean and all that is in between. Where is this paradise? It is Kona Village on the island of Hawai‘i.

In a thatched-roof hale (ha-lay, bungalows) on 82 oceanfront acres, guests experience barefoot luxury in an environment that still speaks to its past and showcases “Hawai‘i, as it was meant to be.” No televisions, radios or telephones distract the keen sense of place. Coconuts supplant traditional “do not disturb” signs. Petroglyphs (carvings in stone) hint of ancient times. Turtles laze on the beach, warming in the sun. Included in every stay are meals inspired by this island home, an award-winning ‘aha‘aina (lu‘au), activities such as snorkeling, fitness facility and tennis, to lei-making, stargazing, fishing the traditional way with bamboo pole and more. Every visitor has the opportunity to choose how much - or how little - to do to each day. This is Kona Village where Hawai‘i still exists; unplugged, unpretentious, unmatched.

Most oceanfront hale have private lanai (deck) with Jacuzzi. May and September, reserved for couples only, are particularly romantic times.

Each day is unique at Kona Village Resort. The highlight of your Hawaiian village experience is the award-winning Aha’aina, or luau banquet, an authentic legendary luau at Hale Ho’okipa celebrated on Wednesday and Friday nights. Complete with a Polynesian show, it boasts to be one of the very best in the islands. Timeless traditions can also be found on Tuesday Paniolo Night, which includes food, music, and songs, by Big Island’s Hawaiian cowboys.

Ohana, or family, is the essence of the Hawaiian culture, and keiki, or children, are shaped from their heritage. Youthful hearts are full of wonder and our complimentary children’s program is offered daily except May and September for ages 5-12. Na Keiki in Paradise promotes the Hawaiian culture through locally flavored activities. Keikis have an opportunity to live in the shadows of those memories through fishing contests, coconut painting, net throwing, and Hawaiian crafts, mixed with pool visits and ball games. Teens may seek more adventurous options, such as kayaking, snorkeling tours, sunfish sailing lessons, volleyball, and more.
